Ecuador's Minister of Tourism, Mateo Estrella, highlights the importance of the Colombian market and advances initiatives to strengthen the flow of travelers between both countries
What are Ecuador's expectations when participating again in the Anato Tourism Showcase?
For Ecuador, this event is of great relevance because Colombia is a key border market. We are returning to ANATO with renewed energy and a strong presence. We have 17 companies and municipalities that are promoting our tourist destinations, which is fundamental to our strategy.
We have high expectations of the fair and of the Colombian market, which is a natural ally for Ecuador. However, we need to strengthen this relationship, promote our attractions and consolidate an active presence in Colombia. This participation in ANATO is only the beginning of a series of activities that we will carry out in the Colombian market throughout the year.
What are the favorite Ecuadorian destinations for Colombians?
The main entry points to Ecuador are Quito and Guayaquil, but the country's northern border, which includes the provinces of Esmeraldas, Imbabura, Carchi and Sucumbíos, is also very important. This border region has great potential and we want to strengthen its attractiveness for Colombian travelers.
In this regard, we are working on the reactivation of cross-border flights. I will soon meet with the airline SATENA to coordinate the restart of these operations, which we are very excited about. This will allow us to enhance connectivity between southern Colombia and northern Ecuador, benefiting both nations.
