Within the framework of ANATO's Tourism Showcase, Andrés Martínez highlights the investments in connectivity and new tourist offerings that continue to position the Mexican Caribbean as a preferred destination for Colombian travelers.

With what initiatives and expectations has the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Center presented itself to the Colombian market?

Colombia is one of our priority markets, being the main generator of tourists from Latin America to the Mexican Caribbean. Connectivity is one of our strong points, and today, in addition to the air connection we already have from Bogotá to the Cancun airport, we have added a direct flight from Bogotá to the Tulum airport, operated by Avianca. Culturally, we have a lot in common with Colombians, and they greatly enjoy our beaches, gastronomy and culture. The Mexican Caribbean is an ideal destination for those looking for a family vacation, a couple's vacation or even a honeymoon celebration, something that has always been very popular.

How is the Quintana Roo delegation in ANATO made up and what products are they offering?

Our delegation at ANATO is made up of around 20 companies from the tourism sector in Quintana Roo, including inbound travel agencies, theme parks and several hotels. It is a complete representation of the tourism product we offer. We know that connectivity is key, and we are working to expedite the entry of Colombian tourists to the destination in collaboration with the federal government. We are very pleased with the fair, as it is the first on the tourism calendar in Latin America and an excellent opportunity to negotiate with operators from different countries such as Argentina, Brazil and, of course, Colombia.

The Mexican Caribbean always surprises with something new. What new things does this year have for Colombians?

This year, we have 12 destinations that continue to offer something new for travelers, from the island of Holbox in the north to the capital, Chetumal, in the south. While Cancun, Tulum, and the Riviera Maya remain the most visited destinations, there are new tourist gems that are gaining popularity. Thanks to the development of the Mayan Train and the expansion of the Tulum airport, these destinations are becoming more accessible, allowing travelers to explore new places more easily.

How is the expansion of Tulum Airport going and what impact does it have on connectivity?

The expansion of the Tulum airport is a reality and we are very pleased with the progress. This airport is now connected to Europe, Latin America and, of course, North America. At a national level, we have also increased flight frequencies. The airport recently celebrated its first year of operation, and the success has been resounding, as it has considerably improved connectivity, which further facilitates access to the Mexican Caribbean.
