The City of Buenos Aires has been recognized once again in the Tripadvisor Traveler's Choice Awards, standing out as the third trending destination worldwide. This award is one of the most important in the sector and recognizes the destinations, hotels and gastronomic offerings chosen by travelers from all over the world.
It also appears in the top ten ranking of gastronomic places (9th), among the 20 best places to go on a honeymoon (20th) and among the 25 best destinations in the world to visit (22nd).
The platform refers to Buenos Aires as “the birthplace of tango” and highlights the old neighborhoods full of romantic restaurants, the exciting nightlife and the European heritage, evident in Buenos Aires’ architecture, boulevards and parks. It also highlights places such as El Café Tortoni, the oldest bar in the city, the Teatro Colón and its positioning as the shopping capital of Latin America.
"Being part of this ranking reflects the continued growth of the City as a preferred destination for travelers from all over the world. This recognition forces us to continue working together with the private sector to generate an increasingly attractive agenda of events and mass shows and to continue enriching year after year the cultural, gastronomic and experiential offering that Buenos Aires offers," said Valentín Díaz Gilligan, president of the Tourism Board of the City of Buenos Aires.
The City of Buenos Aires has more than 7,000 restaurants, 287 theaters, 380 bookstores, and 150 museums. Traditional places are prominent, but there is also another side to the City that continues to be a find even for local residents, such as specialty cafes, milonga schools, independent theaters, speakeasies, and rooftops.
