Colombia is on the rise, and this is confirmed not only by the great interest of international businesspeople who recently attended ANATO's Tourism Showcase to learn about the country's tourism offerings, but also by the figures demonstrating the growth in international visitor arrivals to destinations across the country.
“Colombia is increasingly gaining visibility worldwide, and this is the result of the coordinated work between industry players and the national and local governments of the country's various departments. The travel industry today plays a key role as a major driver of the economy, and that's why it's essential to continue strengthening our offerings in established markets and expanding them to new ones,” emphasized Paula Cortés Calle, Executive President of ANATO.
Indeed, 2025 is beginning to reveal positive data, as 443,493 foreign visitors arrived in Colombia in January, which represented a 15% increase, compared to the 384,743 registered in the same month of 2024, with Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, Cali, San Andrés, and Barranquilla traditionally being the cities to which they travel the most.
Among the countries with the highest share of traveler outflows to Colombia are the United States, with 21%; Costa Rica, with 6%; and Mexico, Peru, and Ecuador, with 5%. However, those with the greatest growth are Peru, with an increase of 51%; Panama, with 21%; Costa Rica, with 16%; and Argentina, with 14%.
"It's crucial to expand our reach into more international markets, and to do so, we must strengthen our regions' air and ground connectivity, infrastructure, and supply. In fact, travel agencies are working to strengthen their offerings to attract visitors from more countries such as Chile, Spain, Ecuador, Canada, Brazil, France, the United Kingdom, and Germany," the union leader explained.
