With the presence of Mayor Carlos Pinedo Cuello, the Mayor of Santa Marta, and the Director of Indetur, José Domingo Dávila, the legendary city's presence at ANATO 2025 took place .
With more than 5,000 visitors, 2,000 closed deals, and opportunities totaling more than $4.5 billion, supported by 53 exhibitors, Santa Marta demonstrated the transformative power of its destination. Furthermore, every corner of its stand reflected the legacy of 500 years of history, the magic of its traditions, and its commitment to sustainable tourism.
This historic event is an opportunity to highlight its rich cultural heritage, its paradisiacal beaches, and its unique biodiversity.
The city lies between the Caribbean Sea and the majestic Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the highest coastal mountain range in the world, reaching 5,775 meters above sea level. This ecosystem is home to an incredible diversity of flora and fauna, as well as indigenous communities such as the Kogui, Arhuaco, Kankuamo, and Wiwa, descendants of the Tayrona civilization. The Sierra Nevada was declared a National Natural Park in 1964 and a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1979.
Tayrona National Natural Park, located 34 kilometers from Santa Marta, is another natural treasure offering white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, ideal for diving and snorkeling. Beaches like Cabo San Juan, Bahía Concha, and Cañaveral are must-see destinations for nature lovers.
Santa Marta's historic center is a testament to its colonial legacy, with architectural gems such as the Santa Marta Cathedral, the Customs House, and the Parque de los Novios.
The region's renowned cuisine, with typical dishes such as fried fish, patacones (fried plantains), rice with coconut, and cocadas (coconut sweets), reflects its culinary richness. Additionally, festivals such as the Fiestas del Mar (Sea Festival), held every July, offer a vibrant showcase of local culture, with sporting competitions, parades, and live music.
In the tourism sector, the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (ANATO) plays a key role in promoting destinations like Santa Marta. Every year, ANATO organizes the Tourism Showcase, and this 2025 edition, which coincided with Santa Marta's anniversary, was key in highlighting the city's wonders and attracting visitors from around the world.
