Since then, it has transported millions of passengers, connecting Colombia with more than 70 international destinations in the region, maintaining its firm commitment to shortening distances and connecting the entire continent. Currently, it has an annual offering of more than 430,000 seats.

With operations from 10 cities in Colombia, the company demonstrates its commitment to connecting the country's main and secondary regions with international destinations in the Americas and the Caribbean through the Hub of the Americas® located at Tocumen International Airport in Panama, where the airline operates more than 350 daily flights.

“On this 55th anniversary, we celebrate not only our legacy, but also our commitment to connecting Medellín, a key city in our network of connections in Colombia and the Americas. This motivates us to continue working towards the efficiency and excellence of our operations, to continue providing world-class service and contributing to the tourism and business development of the region. Thank you to our passengers, employees, and strategic partners for being part of our history in this city,” says Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines.

Five decades serving Colombians

Copa Airlines has operated uninterruptedly for 55 years, significantly contributing to the development of tourism and business in the city and the country. Operations began in Medellín with three weekly flights; currently, there are 56 weekly flights, consolidating operations from Medellín to Panama and beyond.

Currently, Colombia is the second-largest destination in the Copa Airlines network, after the United States, operating from 10 cities in the country with more than 200 weekly flights to Panama. This makes it the international airline with the most connections from Colombia, providing travelers with easy access to more than 20 destinations in the Caribbean and four destinations in Mexico, as well as more than 40 destinations in South America.

Currently, Copa Airlines is the Latin American airline with the most destinations to the United States, serving 17 cities in that country. Recently, a new route to and from San Diego, California, was announced, which will begin operations in June of this year, with four weekly flights. With this, the company strengthens international connectivity on the U.S. West Coast, reaching three destinations in the state of California.

Diego Bermúdez, Director of Sales at Copa Airlines, maintains that "our passengers are our priority and at the heart of our operations. With them in mind, we are always exploring new options with the goal of continuing to include more destinations and frequencies in our route network, strengthening our air connectivity. Therefore, we are pleased to announce that we are adding San Diego, United States, to the more than 80 destinations on our route map."
