“I came into the hotel industry 48 years ago, through auditing. It was a large hotel chain in Argentina, and little by little I took on more responsibilities,” he recalled.
The Argentine economic crisis led him to one of the most important milestones in his career: managing the iconic Alvear Palace Hotel, where he remained for 11 years. “I was responsible for its recovery and transformation into a major hotel in Buenos Aires,” he said. After this experience, he decided to pursue a career in hotel consulting, expanding his operations from Argentina to all of Latin America.
SAHIC’s Innovative Vision: “Always One Step Ahead”
SAHIC, founded by García Rosa, has become a reference in the sector due to its itinerant format, differentiating itself from other global events. “While renowned forums always take place in the same cities, we chose to change locations annually to attract investors and present new markets,” he explained.
Furthermore, the event seeks to offer a unique experience to participants. “It’s not just a business event. We created a special environment, from the structure of the stands to the stage design. We want people to experience something different,” he said.
The Impact of Artificial Intelligence
García Rosa addressed the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the hospitality industry. “We already work with avatars and holograms. My own avatar appeared here, saying things I never said, but with my voice and gestures. AI is transforming everything,” he noted.
Despite his enthusiasm, he also warned of future challenges. “AI consumes enormous amounts of energy and creates new environmental issues. We need to be aware of this,” he said.
Tourism as a Right and Economic Driver
For García Rosa, the tourism industry is one of the most impactful in global economic development. “Tourism has grown uninterruptedly since the advancement of commercial aviation. It has gone through crises, such as the pandemic, but it always recovers,” he said.
He argued that traveling has become an essential need. “Today, tourism is not just big business. It is almost a right. We all want to explore new places, cultures and experiences,” he highlighted.
Legacy and Happiness as a Choice
García Rosa shared his philosophy of life. “I believe that happiness is a decision. Since a very distant day, I decided to be happy. This does not mean that life does not have challenges, but it is up to us to enjoy this great celebration that is life,” he concluded.
With this inspiring vision, he reinforced the importance of tourism not only as an economic sector, but as an industry that transforms lives and societies.
