The Municipal Tourism and Culture Agency (EMTURyC) participated in FIDI 2025, an event held in Bonito (Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil) that brought together hundreds of leaders, business representatives, entrepreneurs, public authorities, and students to learn about and explore trends in Smart Tourism Destinations. Representing Mar del Plata, Tourism Director Valeria Méndez presented the finalist initiatives for the Ibero-American DTI Awards in the destination segment (Accessibility Panel) and spoke on the panel "Inclusive Tourism: Accessibility for All."

Furthermore, within the framework of FIDI 2025, Mar del Plata was recognized for its work promoting responsible and sustainable practices: in the "Tourism Accessibility" category, our city won by popular vote for the Implementation of the Accessibility Guidelines Program for Tourism Spaces and Services.

Valeria Méndez explained that "this is the fruit of our continued hard work to become a cutting-edge Smart Tourism Destination that adapts to international needs and trends. We have been working on tourism accessibility for many years, implementing the Accessibility Guidelines Program for Tourism Spaces and Services of the National Secretariat of Tourism, Environment, and Sports on six occasions, resulting in 42 distinguished establishments."

"We carried out all of this through EMTURyC, and I want to highlight the work of Leandro Laffan, who shouldered meticulous work on accessibility and sustainability alongside his entire team, who continue his legacy by updating themselves with innovative concepts. This award is in honor of his memory and for the work they continue to do in the Research and Development department: I couldn't be more proud," concluded the Director of Tourism.
