Mexican Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora announced that the 2025 Tourism Tianguis will be a unique event, where everyone will be part of the largest tourism celebration in the Americas.

"It's a market for everyone. Today, society can get involved, because today it goes beyond being a tour operator. Everyone can access the activities inside and outside the convention center, and we share it with another country," he declared.

While presenting details of the Tourist Tianguis at Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda's Morning Press Conference, she added that the activities will not be limited to the convention center, as activations will take place in different parts of Baja California and San Diego, California.

As part of the celebration of the first edition of a Tianguis in cities in two countries, he highlighted the holding of a gastronomic and cultural event at Liberty Station, "La Ventana de México en San Diego," which will be free and open to the public on April 26 and 27, 2025, where attendees can learn more about our country's tourism offerings.

He added that, to promote urban gastronomy as a tourist and cultural attraction, the "Great Taco of Mexico" will be held on May 1 and 2 at the Tijuana Cultural Center Esplanade, free of charge.

This urban food festival will bring together 32 representative cuisines from Mexico's states in a circular format, with a central stage featuring traditional shows and exhibitions, samples and sales of tacos from all over Mexico, as well as live music and cultural presentations.

Rodríguez Zamora highlighted that this edition will also be the first to host the Captains' Dialogue, where governors, state tourism secretaries, industry leaders, associations, chambers, international buyers, and sponsors will hold strategic discussions in two panels on key topics such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup and community tourism.

In this regard, he announced that, as part of the drive for the latter, Baja California will be part of one of the 13 Community Tourism centers. Therefore, authorities from all three levels of government will work together to promote connectivity and infrastructure to involve local communities in the development and management of tourism activities.

He previewed some of the conferences and workshops that will be held at the Baja California Center, such as: "Big Data: Data Analysis to Create Opportunities," "Mayan Communities in Action: Ecotourism in the Sian Ka'an Reserve," "Community Tourism: Travel with Indigenous Communities," "Social Media Management: Maximizing the Use of Personalizing Tourism Experiences," among others.

He invited all interested parties to visit the official Tianguis Turístico 2025 website, where they can find the program, the venues where activations will be held, registration for buyers and exhibitors, suggested hotels, transportation routes, and more information.

At the time, Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda explained, "In Baja California, we don't compete; we convince. That's why Baja California became the first venue on the northern border of our country, which fills us with pride. This Tianguis is unique because it unites us with the entire world. We have achieved the confirmation of 775 companies and 1,159 registered buyers from 35 countries."

“In Rosarito Beach, at the Baja California Center, we will welcome visitors from around the world, and at the same time, San Diego will be our window to Mexico, with culinary and cultural events at Liberty Station on April 26 and 27, and the closing event on our Revolución Avenue, with Nortec and the Baja California Orchestra,” he mentioned.

For his part, the state's Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, highlighted the importance the region will gain from this major event, which will promote "the communities' commitment and highlight the attributes that distinguish Baja California as a tourist destination."
