The Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Commission (PROMPERÚ) announced that Visa International Service Association received the license to use the Marca Perú trademark in a ceremony held on March 25.
"Today we celebrate not only a strategic alliance, but also the strengthening of a shared vision: a Peru that advances, that projects itself proudly to the world, and that continues to build its future with determination," said the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Desilú León.
For his part, Ricardo Limo, executive president of PROMPERÚ, indicated that in this way, Visa International Service Association will be linked to Marca Perú, a symbol beloved by Peruvians and one that helps position the country's image abroad. He added that having Visa as a licensee provides the opportunity to raise the profile of Marca Perú through a multinational brand well-established abroad.
“We are deeply honored to receive the license to use the Peru Brand. This is a historic milestone that not only strengthens our commitment to the country but also allows us to work hand in hand with the government to further promote the country's image internationally, leverage initiatives that promote trade and digitalization, and provide access to its benefits to more people,” said Gilberto Chaparro, general manager of Visa Peru.
It should be noted that although the license was formally issued in November, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Desilú León, officially handed it over to the general manager of Visa Peru, Gilberto Chaparro.
Also participating in the ceremony were PROMPERÚ's CEO, Ricardo Limo; General Manager, Lesly Shica; and Head of the Country Image and Brand Strategy Office, Daniel Cavero.
Licensee Program
This program is part of PROMPERÚ's Licensee Program. This initiative was created in 2011 to promote the Peru Brand and its attributes nationally and internationally through individuals and/or legal entities aligned with its objectives, which are the promotion of tourism, exports, investments, and the country's image in the areas of gastronomy, art and culture, sports, education, and others.
To date, 831 licenses have been granted to companies committed to promoting everything Peru has to offer through their products and services.
