At an event held this Monday at the Swissotel Quito, the Ministry of Tourism presented the Tourism Development Fund strategy to government authorities, members of tourism associations, and academia. This fund brings with it a historic increase in the budget for promoting Ecuador, thanks to the Organic Law for the Strengthening of Tourism Activities and Employment Promotion, which paved the way for its creation and financing based on the proceeds of the Ecodelta and Potencia Turística taxes.
This unprecedented financial effort will allow:
Participation in more international events and fairs to attract investment and create jobs.
Efficient management with more streamlined and transparent processes.
An increase in investment aimed at strengthening the tourism sector and improving Ecuador's global competitiveness.
Tourism Minister Mateo Estrella emphasized that "this Fund represents a firm commitment to Ecuador's development, sustainability, and international reach. We are committed to tourism that boosts the economy and positions the country as a leading global destination."
The distribution of the Tourism Development Fund is organized into the following key areas:
International Promotion:
Strategies to strengthen Ecuador's image in global markets. Advertising campaigns, airline alliances, and increased participation in international fairs will be implemented to attract the interest of tourists and investors.
Tourism promotion and competitiveness:
Innovation, digitalization, training, and sustainability. Training programs will be developed for entrepreneurs and local communities with the aim of improving tourism offerings and ensuring quality experiences for visitors.
National Promotion:
Fairs, national events, and the second season of "Ecuador a la Carta," a documentary series highlighting the country's culinary diversity. Additionally, the Country Brand's presence will be strengthened in various strategic locations.
Quality, investments and connectivity:
Improving tourism quality and strengthening connectivity. New air routes will be implemented, and tourism infrastructure will be improved in key destinations.
Tourism Development:
Promotion of smart destinations, signage, and technical assistance. Projects will be carried out to improve tourism planning in various provinces across the country.
This ambitious plan will allow Ecuador to compete with the world's leading destinations, showcasing its cultural, natural, and culinary riches.
"Tourism is advancing, Ecuador is progressing," Minister Estrella emphasized, reaffirming the National Government's vision of strengthening the tourism industry as an engine of development.
Investing in tourism not only boosts the economy but also strengthens the sense of national identity and pride. With this investment, Ecuador will be able to showcase its wonders to the world and establish itself as a must-see destination in the region.
