Buenos Aires, April 1, 2025 – In a partnership that combines innovation and a love of wine, Bodega Gamboa and the InterContinental Buenos Aires Hotel announce the creation of the first urban vineyard in the city and all of Latin America, an unprecedented project that will transform the urban landscape and the wine and food experience of the Argentine capital.
Located in the gardens of the iconic Buenos Aires hotel, the vineyard is in the midst of its establishment: it will feature 150 Malbec, Torrontés, and Pinot Noir vines, varieties that are part of the winery's DNA. Currently, 70% of the vines have been planted, and the space is expected to open to the public in September of this year, coinciding with spring and in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the InterContinental Buenos Aires Hotel.
Bodega Gamboa has been gradually bringing the world of wine closer to the people of Buenos Aires: first, just an hour's drive from Buenos Aires City, in Campana, where the winery operates and where they have 6 hectares of their own vineyards; and now, they're doubling down by bringing the experience even closer: just 400 meters from Plaza de Mayo, in the heart of Buenos Aires.
"This urban vineyard not only represents a uniqueness due to its location, but also due to its value proposition: creating a unique terroir where it was previously unthinkable. Just as Campana Bodega Gamboa chooses unique soils to produce elegant and expressive wines, this new urban space reflects the same quest: to bring the wine experience to new and extraordinary territories," says its owner Eduardo Tuite.
"We are delighted to complete this ambitious project with Bodega Gamboa, which is nothing more and nothing less than the first urban vineyard in the city and in Latin America. This represents a true milestone in the history of our city and the hotel industry, in a year in which the InterContinental Buenos Aires Hotel celebrates its 30th anniversary. We are proud to continue bringing memorable experiences to our guests and clients. To this end, we have prepared a series of truly unique experiences for them, such as tastings, wine pairings, and also events, concerts and grape harvests. Finally, the production of the bottles will be an exclusive batch that will also be auctioned in support of NGOs and foundations," explains Ezequiel Rodríguez, F&B and Entertainment Manager of the InterContinental Buenos Aires Hotel.
In addition to creating unique terroirs, Bodega Gamboa creates experiences. And on this occasion, together with the InterContinental Hotel, we believe that wine can generate a new connection with the city, opening the doors to memorable moments for tourists, guests, and wine lovers. The program includes guided tours, tastings, pruning and harvesting experiences, connecting the urban with the natural and the sensorial in a completely new way.
With this initiative, Bodega Gamboa and the InterContinental Buenos Aires Hotel redefine the wine experience in the city and position Buenos Aires as a pioneer in the global trend of urban vineyards, already present in cities such as Paris, London or New York, but never before seen in Latin America.
