Mexican Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora reported that 20 million 83 thousand passengers were transported on domestic and international flights to and from Mexico during January and February 2025.
According to information from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) indicated that, of the above, 9 million 557 thousand correspond to passengers transported on domestic flights.
He specified that this represents an increase of 3.9 percent compared to the same period in 2024 and 26.1 percent more than in 2019.
He added that, on domestic flights, the airlines with the highest passenger flow in January and February 2025 were VivaAerobus and Volaris, with 6 million 932 thousand passengers, 6 percent more than in 2024, and 84.4 percent more than in 2019.
Rodríguez Zamora also reported that 10,526,000 passengers were transported on international flights during the first two months of 2025, 2.3 percent more than the same period in 2024 and 29.9 percent more than in 2019.
The Mexican airlines that carried passengers on international flights were Aeroméxico and Volaris, with 2,268,000 passengers during the same period, 4 percent more than in 2024 and 45.2 percent more than in 2019. Likewise, the US airlines that had the largest passenger flow were American Airlines and United Airlines, with a total of 2,246,000 passengers.
Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora praised the results obtained in the first two months of 2025 and highlighted their importance as a key element in continuing to attract more tourists to Mexico, as well as international investments and events that drive the growth of this noble activity, a multiplying sector that will continue to generate Shared Prosperity for more Mexicans.
