WASHINGTON, DC (April 2, 2025) — The U.S. major golf season kicks off this April with two months packed with the sport's most prestigious tournaments. The world's best golfers will compete on historic courses across the country, offering a unique experience for both golfers and those looking to complement their trip with additional activities, from local cuisine to relaxation at golf resort spas.

The season kicks off with the 89th annual Masters Tournament, which will be played at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia from April 10-13. The PGA Championship will then take place at Quail Hollow Golf Club in North Carolina from May 12-18. The season culminates with the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania from June 12-15.

Meanwhile, the women's major tournaments will begin with the Chevron Classic in Texas, followed by the U.S. Women's Open in Wisconsin and the KPMG Women's PGA Championship in Texas.

Although many of these tournaments are played on exclusive private courses, the United States also offers a wealth of public courses that allow enthusiasts to join in the spirit of the season and plan a complete golf vacation.

Must-see golf courses in the United States

From the Northeast to the Southeast and Midwest, the United States offers a variety of courses for every taste. In the Northeast, Bethpage State Park on Long Island is famous for its Black Course, home to several major championships. In Florida, standout courses include TPC Sawgrass, famous for its 17th hole in Ponte Vedra Beach, and Streamsong Resort with its three world-class courses.

Wisconsin is known for Whistling Straits and Erin Hills, both host to major championships. Additionally, states like Minnesota and Illinois boast prominent courses like Giants Ridge Golf & Ski Resort and TPC Deere Run, attracting both locals and tourists looking for a golf challenge.
