MSC Cruises officially christened its highly anticipated new flagship, MSC World America, in a dazzling ceremony at the line's new, state-of-the-art MSC Miami Cruise Terminal, the largest cruise terminal in the world.
MSC World America's godmother, Drew Barrymore, officially christened the ship at the glamorous event, following the maritime tradition of cutting a ribbon and breaking a champagne bottle over the bow. Barrymore was accompanied by Orlando Bloom, who co-stars with her in the company's "Let's Holiday" campaign, which debuted during the Big Game.
Drew Barrymore, actress and host of The Drew Barrymore Show, said: “It is a tremendous honor to be the godmother of MSC World America, and I look forward to inaugurating the ship tonight and wishing the ship good luck and much more in the years to come. I have always had a passion for travel, which has fueled my soul and provided me with unforgettable memories. Millions of people will make their own memories aboard this beautiful ship over time, and I know they will have a wonderful time experiencing all that MSC World America has to offer.”
MSC World America is the second of MSC Cruises' world-class ships and marks the beginning of a new world of cruising with refreshed spaces, entertainment and dining concepts designed to highlight MSC Cruises' signature blend of European design and American comfort.
The new flagship is also the first ship in the MSC Cruises fleet to feature seven onboard districts, each with its own unique atmosphere, facilities, and experiences, designed to help guests choose their own vacation adventure and maximize their time on board.
The naming ceremony was attended by key travel partners, international media, distinguished guests, partners, and senior executives from MSC Cruises and its parent company, MSC Group.
This special occasion was an unforgettable evening, with live entertainment, inspiring speeches, and a variety of onboard events highlighting everything this innovative new ship has to offer. Guests also enjoyed a glamorous gala dinner and unforgettable performances culminating in a spectacular drone and fireworks display set against the backdrop of the Miami skyline.
MSC World America will set sail for her first public cruise on April 12, 2025, and will spend her inaugural season sailing from the Port of Miami. She offers alternating 7-night itineraries in the Eastern and Western Caribbean, with calls in Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic); San Juan (Puerto Rico); Costa Maya and Cozumel (Mexico); and Roatan Island (Honduras). All departures include a visit to Ocean Cay.
