Condor, which had already operated regular flights to Panama between 2010 and 2016, is returning to the country as part of a strategy coordinated by the National Tourism Promotion Fund (PROMTUR Panama). The organization is working on promotional and advertising campaigns with wholesalers and travel agents to position Panama as an attractive destination for European travelers, especially Germans.

"Our plans with Condor are to strengthen the German market, which is important for Panama because these visitors stay the longest per night, ranging from 15 to 16 days. This translates into a significant economic impact for the country's tourism sector," said Moisés Véliz, Director of Strategic Alliances and Travel Trade at PROMTUR.

With this new route, Panama strengthens its presence in Europe and expands its flight offering to and from the continent, adding to the already established connections with five airlines. Germany is considered a priority market within the 2020-2026 Sustainable Tourism Master Plan, along with the United States, Canada, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, and France.

The European market represents one of the main sources of international visitors to Central America, ranking as the third largest source market in the region. Its importance lies not only in the volume of tourists arriving, but also in the quality of their spending, their search for authentic experiences, and their extended stays.

The reopening of this route also coincides with the positive results of the Panama Stopover program, developed by Copa Airlines, which allowed more than 160,000 international passengers to make a stopover in the country at no additional cost during 2024, representing a 23% increase compared to the previous year. This initiative has been key to increasing visitor flow and promoting Panama as a world-class tourist destination.

In addition, Tocumen International Airport, which connects the country to more than 90 destinations, handled 19 million passengers and more than 196,000 tons of cargo in 2024, achieving record revenues of $222 million. The operational improvements implemented by the airport administration will contribute to optimizing the traveler experience and consolidating Panama as an important regional air hub.
