According to data compiled by the Undersecretariat of Tourism and Sernatur, this second long weekend of the year, between 407,187 and 486,407 overnight trips are projected, given that a high percentage of the population is expected to request a legal holiday on Friday, May 2, so a significant number of travelers are anticipated between Wednesday, April 30, and Saturday, May 3.

Undersecretary of Tourism Verónica Pardo commented on this weekend: "This type of long weekend has a direct impact on local economies, as it stimulates consumption in accommodations, transportation, gastronomy, and other tourism services. Although exact comparisons with previous years are not possible, we believe this year's trips will exceed the 54,101 recorded in 2024, when the holiday fell on a Wednesday, making it difficult to take two days off. Furthermore, it contributes to the deseasonalization of demand, allowing for a better distribution of tourism activity throughout the year. These movements are key to boosting local economic development and strengthening tourism communities in Chile."

Regarding historical performance, 103,181 trips were recorded on Labor Day 2019, while in 2020 the figure dropped to 83,410 due to pandemic-related health restrictions.

During 2021 and 2022, trips increased to 139,845 and 446,163 respectively, reaching a peak in 2023 with 764,931 trips, when the holiday coincided with a long weekend.

Regions and municipalities leading as preferred sources and destinations:
The Metropolitan Region is projected to be the main source of travel, accounting for 43.5% of the national total. The Biobío and Valparaíso regions follow with 9.1% and 8.8% shares, respectively.

Regarding municipalities, the main sources of traffic were Puente Alto, with a range of overnight trips between 14,374 and 17,171; Maipú, with a range of 13,250 and 15,828; and Las Condes, with figures ranging from 13,167 to 15,729. Santiago and Temuco stand out, with smaller but significant percentages in the national context.

The Valparaíso region is expected to receive between 92,408 and 110,386 overnight trips, followed by the Metropolitan region with a range between 65,753 and 78,546, and the O'Higgins region with between 45,974 and 54,919 trips.

The national director of Sernatur, Cristóbal Benítez, explains that "among the main destinations for this holiday, Valparaíso stands out as the leading region in the preferences of domestic tourists, where Viña del Mar, El Tabo, Algarrobo, and El Quisco are projected to be among the most visited communities during these days of rest. Those traveling there can enjoy the 6th Cerro de Sabores Gastronomic Festival at the Valparaíso Passenger Terminal, which will feature local and international cuisine, live music, and artistic performances. Among the most visited communities are Viña del Mar (between 12,080 and 14,430 trips), El Tabo (between 8,105 and 9,682 trips), and Algarrobo (between 7,654 and 9,143 trips). Rounding out the list are El Quisco and Mostazal, destinations that traditionally receive a significant influx of visitors during long weekends.
