The Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Commission (PROMPERÚ) organized a training session on Romance Tourism, attended by more than 80 professionals from travel agencies specializing in meeting tourism, hotels, MICE executives, and event and wedding planners from Lima, Cusco, Ica, Trujillo, and other cities in the country.
This initiative was organized to present the characteristics, trends, and opportunities of this segment in the country to the participants. Roberth Morales Velezmoro, director of the Association of Wedding Consultants – Peru Chapter, was responsible for leading the training.
It should be noted that romance tourism is part of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry, also known as meetings tourism, which encompasses a variety of products geared toward meaningful experiences for couples. These include destination weddings, engagement parties, honeymoons, important celebrations, and romantic trips.
During the training, participants had the opportunity to learn about international success stories where weddings have had a significant impact on the destination's positioning and dynamism. It's worth noting that sharing these experiences inspires best practices and fosters innovation in event planning.
At PROMPERÚ, we seek to encourage and integrate the participation of wedding planners within the MICE segment and the value chain that comprises it, recognizing their potential to contribute to the sustainable and decentralized development of tourism in the country. Coordination between public and private actors is key to positioning Peru as an ideal destination for unique and memorable celebrations.
