The region's most important Sustainable Hotel Competition returns

Buenos Aires, April 22, 2024. This competition aims to promote sustainable management and innovation in tourist accommodations in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay, promoting projects that concretely and creatively integrate the principles of environmental, economic, and sociocultural sustainability. Over the course of five months, accommodations and students will compete with proposals that demonstrate their commitment to more responsible, inclusive, and environmentally friendly tourism.
The 2025 edition will feature two main categories. "Actions that Create History" is aimed at tourist accommodations that wish to share inspiring stories linked to their sustainable best practices. The focus will be on actions implemented in daily operations that make a positive difference, whether due to their originality, impact, or because they represent a model for other establishments to follow.
The second category, "Innovative Ideas," invites students from tertiary and/or undergraduate programs related to tourism to present creative and viable projects aimed at improving sustainability in the hotel sector. These ideas must consider both environmental and sociocultural and economic criteria, with a clear focus on their real-world applicability.
Each category will select four finalists, one per country, whose projects will be produced in video format and disseminated through digital platforms. Public voting will take place digitally from August 14 to 28 and, together with evaluation by a jury made up of tourism and hotel industry experts, will determine the winners during the Grand Final, which will take place on August 28 at the La Rural Fairgrounds in Buenos Aires as part of HOTELGA.
This year's awards seek to enhance recognition and training. The winning accommodation in the "Actions that Create History" category will receive $1,000, while the winning team in the "Innovative Ideas" category will receive transportation and two nights in accommodation certified with the Greenest Hotels Ecolabel, where they will have the opportunity to learn about the hotel's sustainable management system.
With more than 390 participants since its first edition, the Sustainable Hospitality Competition has established itself as a key space for highlighting the environmental commitment of the region's hotel industry and collectively building a more balanced and resilient tourism model.
