033 – Bogotá, Colombia - April 30, 2025 With the strengthening of air connectivity, travel demand in Colombia has shown great progress not only in passenger traffic on domestic flights but also with international flights. An efficient air network has become a strategic necessity that generates employment, stimulates investment, fosters cultural exchange, and diversifies leisure and business travel options.

During the first quarter of 2025, 13,803,307 passengers were registered on domestic and international flights, i.e., 3.5% more than the same period in 2024. Of these, 43.2% were international flights and 56.8% were domestic flights.

“Passenger traffic in the country reveals, in fact, that this figure will become the period of highest volume recorded in the first quarter of 2025 in the last six years, even exceeding the first quarter of 2019 by 42.8% . Therefore, it is important to view connectivity not only as a means of transportation, but also as a transformation tool for the different sectors of the country's economy,” said Paula Cortés Calle, Executive President of ANATO.

It is noteworthy that Bogotá Airport accounted for the largest volume of domestic and international traffic, with a 40.7% share of total passengers; followed by Medellín Airport, with 14.7%; Cartagena Airport, with 8.8%; Cali Airport, with 7.1%; Santa Marta Airport, with 4.6%; and Barranquilla Airport, with 3.7% of passengers.

Regarding international air connectivity, 26% of total passengers corresponded to routes between Colombia and the United States; followed by 8.5% with Spain; 7.9% with Mexico; 6.9% with Peru; 6.5% with Panama; and 5.6% with Ecuador. “We have made a lot of progress, but there are still regions that need to be better connected to integrate into Colombia's growth and are not isolated. The country also needs to strengthen its connectivity with other countries. We must invest in routes and in alliances with airlines that want to invest in our territory,” the union leader concluded.
