The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) presented an analysis on air traffic seasonality in 2024, highlighting distinct patterns in the region's main markets. Brazil and Colombia registered demand levels above the annual average in all markets analyzed. Mexico also showed a significant rebound, especially in the Caribbean and international traffic, driven by significant increases in the US-Mexico, US-Dominican Republic, Canada-Mexico, and US-Costa Rica flows.

On the other hand, the lowest levels of relative demand were concentrated in Mexico, the Caribbean, and the international segment. These patterns allow us to observe how demand is distributed throughout the year, providing a useful basis for understanding operational and connectivity dynamics in the region.

Complementing this regional outlook, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) reported that in March 2025, global passenger demand, measured in passenger kilometers (RPKs), grew by 3.3% compared to March 2024. Although this growth is more moderate than in previous months, it reflects a sustained positive trend.

In particular, Latin American airlines experienced a 10.9% increase in demand during March 2024 compared to the same month last year, with a load factor of 83.1%, indicating a strong recovery and growth in the region.

These data underscore the importance of understanding seasonal variations and growth trends in air traffic to plan effective strategies in the tourism and air transport sectors in Latin America and the Caribbean.
