São Paulo, May 9, 2025 – Starting June 10, getting to know the vibrant capital of Spain, Madrid, will be easier. Azul, the largest airline in terms of number of flights and destinations served in Brazil, will have three weekly flights, departing from Recife (PE) to the capital of Madrid, in aircraft with a capacity for 267 Customers.

This connection to Europe has never been operated by the company. And by the end of the year, there will be 176 flights (departures and arrivals) connecting Brazil to the Spanish capital, famous for its history, culture and gastronomy. In addition to serving Brazilian customers, these flights can also provide European tourists with a gateway to the company's third largest hub, in Recife.

"The new Recife-Madrid route reinforces Azul's strategy of expanding its international network from regional hubs. The choice of Recife for this operation is due to its privileged geographical position and the adequate infrastructure to support international flights, facilitating connections for passengers from all over Brazil", explains Beatriz Barbi, Network Planning Manager at Azul Linhas Aéreas.

Flights from Recife to Madrid are distributed as follows: 9 flights in June, 14 in July, 13 in August, September, October, November and December. Departing from Recife on Tuesdays (7:10 pm), Thursdays (7:20 pm) and Sundays (7:10 pm). Return flights always take place on Wednesdays (10:35 am), Fridays (10:40 am) and Mondays (10:35 am).

"With this new route, Azul demonstrates the Company's commitment to collaborating with initiatives that drive regional development and international tourism. This is a significant opportunity to expand Azul's international presence, meet customer demand and contribute to the economic and tourism growth of Pernambuco," says Beatriz Barbi.

The choice of the capital of Pernambuco to host the route was strategic, since the city is the main connectivity point and the Company's largest hub in the Northeast. Currently, Guararapes International Airport operates 46 routes, both domestic and international. The city has become a fundamental connection to other destinations in the Northeast, North and South of Brazil, in addition to being an important link for regional and international flights. In 2024 alone, there were more than 29 thousand takeoffs from Recife, totaling 3.8 million seats offered from the capital of Pernambuco. In the first quarter of 2025, 787,655 Customers were transported from the Northeast hub.

This new route joins other international flights operated by Azul from the capital of Pernambuco, which are part of the company's international expansion process and connects the Company's main hub in the Northeast to the cities of Orlando, in the USA, with two weekly flights; Montevideo, in Uruguay, also with two departures per week; Porto, in Portugal, with two weekly departures; Asunción, which will be a seasonal route, starting in July, also with two flights per week.
