Iberia customers who flew from Madrid to Mexico City and are football fans were in luck, as the trip didn't prevent them from enjoying all the excitement of EL CLASICO, even though they were at 30,000 feet above sea level.
Specifically, passengers on flight IB307 this Sunday enjoyed the decisive LALIGA EA SPORTS match between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid live, with a live broadcast from their mobile devices by connecting free of charge to the plane's Wi-Fi, thanks to Panasonic technology.
This is the second time Iberia has broadcast a live match on board its aircraft. The first time was last year, when the Euro Cup final between Spain and England was broadcast. On that occasion, passengers were able to watch the match via their mobile devices connected to the free in-flight Wi-Fi network, thanks to the airline's partnership with Sports 24.
Spanish football, present on the flight
This flight also had a great surprise for the passengers on board, since from the moment they entered the plane they were able to enjoy all the excitement of LALIGA EA SPORTS first-hand, finding official LALIGA team shirts on each of the seats, which they received as a gift.
This flight featured another very special surprise: the presence of former footballer Juan Pablo Sorín, who played for Spanish league teams such as FC Barcelona and Villarreal CF, interacting with the various passengers on board.
The partnership between Iberia and LALIGA also included other activities and activities on board the plane that not only livened up the passengers' flight but also allowed them to win other special LALIGA prizes.
More than 2,000 people travel this route every day.
Iberia currently has three daily flights connecting Mexico City with Madrid, operated with the largest and most advanced aircraft in its fleet, the Airbus A350, which, in addition to offering a better onboard experience, fly in a more sustainable manner, reducing fuel consumption by 35% compared to its predecessor model.
This represents a capacity of more than 770,000 seats by 2025, which translates into the possibility of more than 2,000 people crossing the Atlantic between Mexico and Europe each day in both directions aboard an Iberia aircraft.
