Mexican Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora reported the arrival of 8,368,662 visitors in March 2025, 10.1 percent more than in the same month in 2024. Of this figure, 4.2 million, or 50 percent, were tourists who stayed overnight in Mexico.
"These results are a clear reflection of the growth of tourism, which translates into significant benefits for the national economy and well-being for resident communities, with job creation and regional development in tourist areas. With this, the good news sector continues to consolidate its position as a pillar driving growth," he stated.
It adds that, in March 2025, foreign currency income from total visitor spending reached $3.667 billion, representing an annual increase of 5.2 percent. Spending by international tourists reached $3.402 billion. Of this amount, 95.4 percent came from in-country tourists and 4.6 percent from cross-border tourists.
According to the results of the International Traveler Surveys published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), the head of the Ministry of Tourism reported that, from January to March 2025, $10,268.5 million in foreign currency from international visitors entered Mexico, 5 percent and 45.8 percent more than the same periods in 2024 and 2019, respectively.
He added that in the first quarter of 2025, 23.8 million international visitors entered the country, a 13.3 percent increase compared to 2024.
On the other hand, it was announced that foreign currency income from international tourists in the first three months of the year amounted to $9.48 billion, 3.4 percent more than in 2024 and 46.5 percent more than the foreign currency received in the same period in 2019.
Rodríguez Zamora reported that, from January to March 2025, 11.9 million international tourists entered the country, 6 percent more than in 2024 and 7.1 percent more than in 2019.
He also emphasized that, in the first quarter of 2025, 6.6 million inbound tourists arrived by air, with an average spending of $1,311.40, 5.2 percent higher than in 2024 and 24.2 percent higher than in 2019.
Likewise, the head of the Ministry of Tourism reported that between January and March 2025, 3.4 million cruise passengers arrived at Mexico's various ports, i.e., 11.5 percent more than in the same months of 2024 and 22.7 percent more than in 2019.
He noted that foreign currency earnings from cruise ship visitors amounted to $288.2 million, representing a 13.8 percent increase compared to 2024 and a 53.7 percent increase compared to 2019.
