Panama continues to consolidate its position as a key destination for meetings and events (MICE) in Latin America. In 2026, the country will host the 50th Latin American and Caribbean Skål Congress (CLACKSAL), an event that will bring together tourism leaders and professionals from across the region.

The announcement was made official during the recent congress, held in Montevideo, where Panama was represented by Mr. Demetrio Maduro, President of the Board of Directors of PROMTUR and an active member of the global Skål organization. As part of the presentation, Panama hosted a special dinner for members and guests, highlighting the country's cultural richness, modern infrastructure, and unique experiences as a host of major events.

CLACKSAL has established itself as a meeting place for tourism professionals in Latin America, where they share experiences, knowledge, and successful strategies to promote more sustainable, inclusive, and competitive tourism, addressing new challenges and strengthening regional collaboration.

During the event, Mr. Maduro was appointed First Vice President of the Skål International (CAL) Latin American Area Committee, in recognition of his commitment to strengthening regional tourism. We at PROMTUR extend our congratulations on this achievement, which reinforces Panama's leadership in the industry.

CLACKSAL 2026, which will take place in April, will be an opportunity to continue building alliances, share best practices, and demonstrate why Panama is one of the leading event hosts in the Americas.
