Santo Domingo, May 15, 2025. Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts celebrates three decades as a benchmark for sustainable tourism in the Caribbean. Since opening its first hotel in 1995 in the Dominican Republic (Río San Juan), the chain has evolved to become a key player in the sector, combining hospitality, local identity, and an unforgettable vacation experience.

With 22 hotels and nearly 12,000 rooms in destinations such as the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica, and Spain, Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts has distinguished itself with a focus on personalized service, cultural integration, and guest well-being. Thirty years later, the brand celebrates its corporate maturity with an eye to the future and a renewed drive toward international expansion.

In celebration of its anniversary, Bahia Principe hosted the opening ceremony for DATE 2025 (Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange), held at the Bahia Principe Bávaro Resort. The event marked the official start of the fair and was attended by Juan Bancalari, president of ASONAHORES, as well as other industry companies, tour operators, clients, collaborators, authorities, and the media. The evening recognized the brand's journey, characterized by its evolution, loyalty, and unforgettable moments, accompanying millions of travelers.

A journey through legacy and innovation

Under the name "Evolution ," the anniversary gala was conceived as a unique experience in which innovation and tradition were integrated to pay tribute to Bahia Principe's three decades of history. Through a historical journey, the celebration combined the use of artificial intelligence—with a digital presenter created especially for the occasion, Eve —with live music, local artistic groups, and the special participation of the Dominican National Symphony Orchestra. A fusion of technology, culture, and art that allowed attendees to relive the legacy and evolution of the brand over these 30 years.

This new chapter is also driven by a new vision: a joint venture with Hyatt Hotels Corporation to grow the brand. This integration of 22 resorts into Hyatt's Inclusive Collection strengthens the brand's international presence and consolidates its presence in the all-inclusive segment, contributing to a 30% increase in Hyatt's global portfolio and generating new expansion opportunities.

“Every year of these three decades has been a learning experience, an evolution, a renewed promise to do things with passion and purpose. Moving forward, this joint venture with Hyatt represents a momentous milestone for us, a firm step toward a future of growth and global expansion. But, above all, it means looking to the future with the certainty that we will continue to create experiences with responsibility, excitement, and excellence,” said Julio Pérez, CEO of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts.

Javier Águila, global president of Hyatt's Inclusive Collection, commented: “On behalf of Hyatt, I want to extend my sincere congratulations to the entire Grupo Piñero team: a company with more than 30 years of operational excellence and deep knowledge of its destinations, and with a culture and values that we fully share. For me, joining forces with Hyatt and Bahia Principe is almost a dream come true. And I'm sure this journey together will be filled with success .”

Bahia Principe's growth has always been accompanied by a firm commitment to the environments in which it operates. In the Dominican Republic, where a large part of its operations are concentrated, 97% of purchases are made from domestic suppliers, strengthening local economies and generating sustainable employment. Furthermore, guest loyalty has been key to its success: more than 100,000 guests return their stay at least five times.

This anniversary coincides with another key moment for the parent company: the 50th anniversary of Grupo Piñero, a family-run tourism group that has transformed a local vision into a global project with a positive impact.

“This celebration not only honors our history, it also reaffirms our commitment to a tourism that positively transforms people and destinations. Our history in this country is reflected in experiences, mutual trust, and a deep cultural connection that we value greatly. As a group dedicated to hospitality, we are not only hosts, but also guests, and that has always guided our way of doing things,” concluded Encarna Piñero, Global CEO of Grupo Piñero.
