“The figures for international departures of Colombians show a positive trend towards recovery, although they have not yet reached the levels of 2024. The diversification of destinations, through connectivity, and migratory conditions are key to maintaining this gradual path,” said Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.
Regarding the destinations they visited, 30.7% went to North America , followed closely by Central America and the Caribbean, with 30.1% ; For its part, Europe accounted for 19.2% ; and South America, 18.9% . In the case of the regions of Asia, Oceania and Africa, each had a share of less than 1%.
By age group, 24.5% of travelers were between 30 and 39 years old ; 19.4% between 40 and 49 ; 18.8% between 18 and 29 ; 14.3% between 50 and 59 ; 10.6% between 60 and 69 ; 7.4% between 0 and 17 ; and 5% were 70 years old or older .
The age dynamics show that the group under 30 years old decreased by 4.9% compared to the same period in 2024; in contrast, the group of those 60 years old or older increased by 5.1%.
Similarly, when compared to the end of 2024, it was observed that the group of those under 30 years of age grew by 3.9% compared to 2023, while those aged 60 and over increased by 15.1% , which may show that there is a growing trend in travel by older people.
Finally, regarding preferred destinations by age, 32.1% of young people traveled to Central America and the Caribbean ; followed by North America, with 24.1% ; and Europe, with 21.6% . In the case of older adults, 45.3% went to North America ; 24.7% to Central America and the Caribbean ; and 16.7% to Europe.
"That's why travel agencies are constantly innovating in the creation of tourist packages that adapt to the tastes and needs of different tourist profiles, which vary not only by age but also by their preferred destination activities, type of accommodation, among other factors," the union leader concluded.
