Guanacaste Airport, a member of the VINCI Airports network, carried out its annual cleanup campaign on National Route 21, which runs in front of the runway, and collected 326 kilograms of waste. This amount is equivalent to
the waste generated by a family of five for two months.
The distribution of waste is as follows:
Type of waste Quantity (kg)
Ordinary 247
Special (tires) 61
Recoverable (cardboard, glass, aluminum and plastic) 18
This year, 48.05 kilograms more were harvested compared to the 2024 campaign, representing a 17.7% increase.
The campaign's objectives are to prevent soil and water pollution, utilize recyclable waste, eliminate potential breeding grounds for dengue fever, and raise environmental awareness.
The campaign was carried out on Route 21, in the front perimeter of the airport, and covers 2,500 linear meters.
This year, the airport community participated in the following companies: Coriport, Delta Airlines, Morpho Travel Experience, REM Soluciones, Auto Transportes Rogafa, Cautiva Publicidad, the State Health Service, and the
General Directorate of Civil Aviation.
"Sustainability is one of Guanacaste Airport's strategic pillars. Based on VINCI Airports' action plan to work for the environment, promote the circular economy, and preserve biodiversity, we strive to prioritize our actions and involve our airport community, thereby contributing to making a difference together," said César Jaramillo, general manager of Guanacaste Airport.
