The operating costs of Latin American and Caribbean airlines exceeded $34 billion in 2024. Maintenance accounted for 5.9% of the total, reflecting one of the main challenges that 600 industry executives will address during the ALTA CCMA & MRO Conference 2025, to be held May 18-20 in Cancun, Mexico.
The meeting will focus on practical and sustainable solutions for aircraft maintenance, a sector impacted by increased fleet utilization and the corresponding rise in maintenance costs, rising prices for parts and services, limited availability of new aircraft, and a shortage of skilled labor. “Currently, the average lead time between order and delivery of narrow-body aircraft reaches six years in the region. This is forcing more intensive use of existing fleets,” explains Peter Cerdá, CEO of ALTA.
The conference will feature technical panels, networking spaces, and solutions showcases (tabletops). The academic agenda includes analysis of the MRO landscape in the region, digital transformation in the supply chain, the use of PMA parts to mitigate bottlenecks, and the challenges facing maintenance centers in the face of growing demand.
“Maintenance and the supply chain are at the center of the conversation due to their key role in safe, efficient, and sustainable operations. This event allows us to build real solutions alongside airlines, suppliers, and technical experts,” says Santiago Valencia, Director of Maintenance at ALTA and chair of the conference.
Since 1963, the ALTA CCMA & MRO Conference has been the premier aviation technical gathering in Latin America and the Caribbean, promoting knowledge, business development, and strategic connections.
