The state's Secretary of Tourism, Bernardo Cueto Riestra, announced the return of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Mexico Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba to the Mexican Caribbean at a press conference. This will strengthen Quintana Roo's global position as a sports tourism venue.

Thanks to the initiative of Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, Quintana Roo is experiencing a New Era of Tourism, where the diversification of tourism products is a strategic priority to bring prosperity to every home in the state.

In this regard, the head of the State Secretariat of Tourism (SEDETUR), Cueto Riestra, said that sports tourism has taken a leading role by hosting top-level events like this tournament, which represents the return of the LPGA to Mexico after eight years.

The LPGA brings together the world's best female golfers and the event will take place from May 22 to 25 at the El Camaleón golf course in Mayakoba, Riviera Maya. 144 players will participate, including Mexicans Gaby López and Isabella Fierro. The event will also feature a $2.5 million prize pool.

The event stands out not only for its sporting significance, but also for the union of institutional and private efforts.

The MÉXICO brand, a symbol of identity, culture, and tourism grandeur, will be the tournament's official brand, reaffirming the country's commitment to promoting sports and tourism globally.

During the conference, Bernardo Cueto expressed his gratitude to the event organizers for their trust in Quintana Roo and mentioned that these types of events not only position the Mexican Caribbean as a top-tier tourist destination, but also reinforce its leadership in sports tourism on a global scale.

Thanks to the infrastructure, air connectivity, and quality services that characterize the people of Quintana Roo, we can host world-class athletes," he said.

In addition to the sporting events, the tournament will offer concerts as an additional attraction for attendees. On Saturday, May 24, the Latin pop group Bacilos will perform, and on Sunday, May 25, it will close with a performance by Jesse & Joy.

The MÉXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba not only celebrates women's sports at its finest, but also symbolizes a powerful alliance between tourism, culture, music, and sports, in one of the most visited and admired destinations in the world.

The press conference was attended by Andrés Martínez, director of the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council; Gustavo Santoscoy, director of the Mexico Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba; David López, general director of Camaleón; and Luis Durán, general director of RLH Properties.
