Antigua & Barbuda took center stage on the opening day of the Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2025, where it shared a strong vision for the future based on tourism development, new strategic investments, and advances in air and maritime connectivity. The country is currently positioned as the fastest-growing service economy in CARICOM, with tourism as its main driver, accounting for 70% of GDP and generating more than 12,000 jobs, equivalent to 34% of its workforce.

With outstanding performance in 2024, more than 1.2 million air and sea arrivals, and GDP growth of 6.1% according to ECLAC, the destination is consolidating its post-pandemic recovery and moving toward 2025 with a projected additional growth of 3.5%.

During the event, the delegation presented an ambitious portfolio of ongoing infrastructure projects:

Expansion of Barbuda International Airport and development of a permanent terminal.

Progress is underway at the Barbuda Cruise Port and the Barbuda Ocean Club, with new villas under construction.

Progress on the construction of the exclusive Nobu Beach Club.

In addition to its vision for growth, Antigua & Barbuda reaffirms its position as an internationally renowned destination. It was recognized by the World Travel Awards as the Caribbean's first official wellness destination and is listed among TripAdvisor's top 25 honeymoon destinations. It was also highlighted by Caribbean Journal as the number one destination to visit in the region, and Condé Nast Traveller included Jolly Beach among the best beaches in the Caribbean.
