The Mexican Caribbean presents its multi-destination offering to the global market at IMEX Frankfurt

Rocío González Jonguitud, Director of Operations for the Mexican Caribbean, spoke with Travel2latam about expectations at IMEX, the importance of the European market, and promotional strategies to attract groups, conventions, and incentive events to the region

What are your expectations for participating in IMEX Frankfurt?

For the Mexican Caribbean, having a presence at IMEX is essential. We are bringing exhibitors representing luxury hotels, all-inclusive resorts, properties with convention centers, and hotels specializing in incentive groups. We also have partners from the value chain, including production companies and DMCs. The fair is a key platform for showcasing everything the Mexican Caribbean offers to attract groups, conventions, congresses, and incentive events, which represent approximately 30% of total visitors, or nearly 6 million convention attendees annually.

How important is the European market for the Mexican Caribbean?

The importance of the European market varies depending on the season and the type of group. For incentive trips, the Mexican Caribbean is one of the favorite destinations in Europe. Not only for its beaches, but also for the diversity of attractions such as cenotes, Mayan culture, and gastronomic experiences. We are a multi-destination tour, which allows visitors to combine several destinations in a single trip. Furthermore, renowned Mexican hospitality is a great added value. That's why participating in events like IMEX is extremely important to us.

Beyond IMEX, what other promotions and strategies do you have planned?

Throughout the year and around the world, we develop campaigns with strategic partners and participate in numerous trade shows and private events for groups and conventions. In addition to attending trade shows, we organize cocktail parties and after-work events in different cities to showcase what the Mexican Caribbean has to offer. For example, next week we will be in Madrid hosting a cocktail party with 60 meeting planners from Madrid and surrounding areas, along with hoteliers and representatives from the value chain, to strengthen relationships and showcase the destination's offerings. We also carry out campaigns with national and international media, including European media, and carry out activations with associations with whom we maintain constant communication to capture their events and promote the region at their meetings.
