Tegucigalpa, Honduras, May 20, 2025 – Honduras is preparing to become the epicenter of Central American tourism with the Central American Travel Market (CATM 2025), the leading promotional and marketing platform for the sector in the region. The event will take place from October 21 to 23 in San Pedro Sula, establishing itself as a strategic opportunity to showcase the cultural, natural, and tourism wealth of the isthmus to the world as a single, integrated destination.

Organized by the Federation of Central American Tourism Chambers (FEDECATUR) and the Central American Tourism Promotion Agency (CATA), with national leadership from the National Chamber of Tourism of Honduras (CANATURH) and the Honduran Tourism Institute (IHT), CATM 2025 is projected to be a historic edition in terms of scope and international projection.

More than a trade fair, CATM is a platform that promotes responsible, diverse, and transformative tourism. This was emphasized by authorities during the launch event held in Tegucigalpa, which was attended by the Vice Minister of Tourism, Reizel Vilorio; the Vice President of CANATURH, Nicole Marrder; the Secretary General of CATA, Boris Iraheta; and the President of CANATURH and representative of FEDECATUR, Andrés Ehrler, all members of the organizing committee.

A key event at a time of boom for the region.
Since its inception in 2003, CATM has been an essential instrument for fostering business relationships between Central American operators and international wholesalers. The 2024 edition, held in El Salvador, brought together more than 3,000 participants and generated 500 business meetings per day, a precedent that sets high expectations for the Honduran edition.

The event comes at a time of growth for Central America. In 2024, the region surpassed pre-pandemic tourism levels, with more than 26 million international visitors, revenues of US$20 billion, and the creation of 2.9 million jobs. These figures position the Central American Integration System (SICA) bloc as the 17th most visited region in the world, according to data from UN Tourism.

San Pedro Sula: Infrastructure and Strategic Connectivity
The choice of San Pedro Sula as the venue responds to technical criteria: a modern event infrastructure with capacity for more than 5,000 people, more than 3,875 hotel rooms, and excellent air connectivity from the Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport, with direct flights to the United States, Europe, and neighboring countries. Furthermore, the city is close to tourist attractions such as Tela, La Ceiba, Puerto Cortés, and the beaches of the Honduran Caribbean.

International Outreach and Expected Results:
CATM 2025 seeks to consolidate the regional brand "Central America, so small... so big," promote sustainable development in the sector, and strengthen public-private partnerships. Expected results include:

  • Participation of CATA member countries.
  • More than 100 international wholesalers from America, Europe, and Asia.
  • Nearly 150 regional exhibitors, including hotel chains, airlines, tour operators, and inbound agencies.
  • More than 2,000 B2B business meetings.
  • Coverage by more than 50 international media outlets.

The event is supported by strategic partners such as Publimovil and Avianca, reaffirming its reach and relevance.

CATM 2025 represents a unique opportunity for Honduras to establish itself as a world-class host, showcase its hospitality, connectivity, and natural wealth, and, at the same time, invite the world to discover Central America as a single destination.
