Costa Rica Convention Center receives top global sustainability award at Eventex Awards 2025

San José, Costa Rica – May 20, 2025 – The Costa Rica Convention Center (CCCR), operated by Grupo Heroica, was awarded the Platinum Award for “Sustainable Venue” at the Eventex Awards 2025, the highest international recognition in the events and experiences industry. The award, which this year received more than 1,200 applications from 59 countries, highlighted the Costa Rican venue's environmental management, operational innovation, and positive impact.

The CCCR was recognized with a total of six awards: Platinum in the "Sustainable Venue" category; Gold in the "Versatile Venue," "Convention Center," and "Venue" categories; and Bronze in the "Sustainable Initiative" and "People's Choice Venue" categories. These recognitions consolidate its position as one of the most prominent and versatile venues in the world, both for its infrastructure and its commitment to sustainability.

According to Álvaro Rojas, general manager of the CCCR, these achievements reflect a vision of applied sustainability: “These awards signal to the world that events with real impact and a sustainable future are being held here. Each practice responds to a concrete, measurable, and replicable strategy that places Costa Rica at the forefront of the industry.”

Since its opening, the center has worked on initiatives such as reducing its carbon footprint, promoting energy efficiency, comprehensive waste management, and environmental education, becoming a regional and international benchmark. The implementation of this sustainable model has been key to attracting large-scale events that seek to align with the values ​​of responsible development.
