During the event, the natural wealth, vibrant cultural heritage, and renowned hospitality that characterize Curaçao were showcased. The objective was to strengthen ties with the Argentine market and continue positioning the island as an ideal Caribbean destination for Latin American travelers.

In this context, Travel2latam spoke with Elaine Hart-Francisca, Regional Manager for the Caribbean and South America, for the Curaçao Tourism Office.

What is the objective of this event in Buenos Aires?

We're here with a delegation of Curaçao hotels and inbound operators, as well as our partner airlines Copa and Avianca, to promote the destination in Argentina. This road show began in Chile and Uruguay, and we're now visiting several Argentine cities: we've already been to La Plata, Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Mendoza, and Rosario.

Are there any notable developments in terms of air connectivity?

Yes, starting December 2, TAM will operate three weekly flights from Lima to Curaçao. This is in addition to the existing connections with Copa via Panama and Avianca via Bogotá, making it even easier for Argentine travelers to access the island.

How important is the Argentine market for Curaçao?

It's a constantly growing market. In 2023, we expect to welcome approximately 9,000 Argentinian visitors, and as of May of this year alone, we've already reached 7,600. Our goal for 2025 is to reach 15,000 visitors, and with the new flights and promotional initiatives, we believe we will achieve this.

Besides the airlines, what other alliances are you developing?

We have partnerships with tour operators, we conduct training for travel agents and wholesalers, and we seek to educate them about the destination. Many are still unfamiliar with Curaçao; some even believe it's a city in Brazil because of its name. We want them to know that we are part of the ABC Islands, located off Venezuela, and that we offer much more than sun and sand.

What can an Argentine tourist expect when visiting Curaçao for the first time?

Curaçao has more than 35 beaches, but also a rich cultural and historical offering. We offer a wide variety of accommodations, from Airbnbs and villas to boutique hotels and all-inclusive resorts. Our historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and we boast a vibrant arts, culinary, and cultural scene. It's a destination for exploration and authentic experiences.

We know you're promoting a soccer tournament on the island. What can you tell us about that?

Yes, this is the third edition of the Legends Tournament we've held with different partners in Curaçao. This year, football legends from Argentina, the Netherlands, Brazil, Portugal, and, of course, Curaçao will participate. It will take place on May 28th and 29th, and it's a unique spectacle. We encourage those traveling to the island to encourage their clients to purchase tickets. It's an experience you can't get anywhere else.
