Panama reaffirms its position as a world-class culinary destination, thanks to its historical heritage and constantly evolving culinary offerings that reflect the country's cultural richness.

The prestigious Forbes Central America magazine has recognized Panama as a gastronomic benchmark in the region, highlighting its unique culinary offerings, influenced by indigenous, African, European, and Asian roots, which highlight local products and foster creativity.

The publication also notes that, in 2017, Panama City was recognized as a Creative Gastronomic City by UNESCO, a recognition that has fostered the fusion of tradition and innovation, allowing chefs and entrepreneurs to reinvent Panamanian cuisine using fresh, seasonal produce.

In this context of international recognition for Panamanian cuisine, La Tapa del Coco restaurant has been included in Condé Nast Traveler's 2025 Hot List, which brings together the best new hotels, restaurants, and cruise ships in the world. Located in the heart of Panama City and led by Chef Isaac Villaverde, La Tapa del Coco is a tribute to Panama's Afro-Panamanian roots, with a vibrant culinary offering inspired by the traditional flavors of Colón, prepared with native ingredients.

Highlights include smoked fish soup, crispy pork belly chicharrón, and the signature One Pot Colonense, a feast of coconut fried rice, pork ribs, beans, shrimp, and green plantain chips. This achievement follows the 2024 award, when the restaurant was included for the first time on the Latin America's Best Restaurants list, ranking it among five Panamanian restaurants.

With these recognitions, Panama strengthens its position as a leading gastronomic destination in the region, offering authentic, innovative culinary experiences connected to Panamanian cultural identity.
