During the event, CATA Secretary General Boris Iraheta participated in the panel "Path to Inclusive and Accessible Tourism: Business Opportunities and Growth for the Regional Tourism Industry," along with Demetrio Maduro, President of the Board of Directors of PROMTUR Panama; Jorge Correa, Deputy Administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP); and Ana Graça, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Panama.
This space allowed for the exchange of experiences and approaches to strengthen public policies that promote inclusion in tourism and generate new development opportunities for the Central American region.
CATA subsequently participated in the conference "How to Develop Accessible Products and Services: Universal Design in Infrastructure and Training of Tourism Personnel," where Boris Iraheta shared the stage with experts such as Sandra Osorio, Executive Director of Inclusive Tourism of Chile, and Publio Arjona, Head of the Assistive Innovation Office of SENADIS Panama.
This conference addressed key tools such as practical guides, accessibility metrics, case studies, and inclusive infrastructure implementation strategies. Chile, Panama, and Central America were highlighted as successful cases in the implementation of inclusive tourism policies.
The event, organized by Meetings®Panama in collaboration with the Panama Tourism Authority, SENADIS, and multiple institutional partners, brought together more than 350 in-person participants and 500 virtual international buyers, generating more than 3,000 business meetings. It also aimed to train more than 2,000 industry professionals by 2025, with the goal of consolidating a network of change agents in the field of inclusive tourism.
For CATA, these types of spaces are essential to continue consolidating its role as a strategic player in the region, promoting sustainable and inclusive tourism. Through these initiatives, we promote actions that integrate sustainability, accessibility, and innovation as key pillars for the development and growth of the tourism sector in Central America and the Dominican Republic.
