Turkish Airlines and Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) signed a joint commercial agreement in Delhi at the IATA Annual General Meeting on June 1, 2025, marking a significant step toward enhancing strategic cooperation between the flag carriers of Turkey and Thailand.

This collaboration builds on the successful launch of THAI's daily flights from Bangkok to Istanbul on December 1, 2023, alongside Turkish Airlines' extensive flight network. With this new partnership, signed as the next phase of the collaboration between two Star Alliance member airlines, both companies aim to unlock significant passenger traffic potential between Turkey and Thailand. With Turkish Airlines' world-renowned flight network, covering more countries than any other airline, combined with Thai Airways' regional strength, customers of both airlines will enjoy a seamless travel experience worldwide thanks to the creation of an attractive product range.

Commenting on the agreement, Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, said:

"We are delighted to enhance the existing cooperation between Turkish Airlines and THAI, as it marks an important milestone in further developing the tourism potential between Turkey and Thailand. This collaboration will provide seamless travel experiences, expand connectivity between the two regions, and offer guests more options across both airlines' networks."

THAI CEO Chai Eamsiri said:

"The joint venture agreement between THAI and Turkish Airlines to operate codeshare flights on the Bangkok-Istanbul route is planned to be implemented in this 2025-2026 winter flight schedule, subject to the approval of the respective authorities. This agreement is an opportunity for both airlines to enhance their route networks and explore business opportunities that will extend to other routes in the future. Under THAI's "Network Airline" strategy, passengers are conveniently connected to domestic destinations in Thailand as well as other destinations in Asia."

Following the decision by the Turkish and Thai civil aviation authorities to reciprocally increase passenger frequency rights to 42 frequencies, this joint commercial agreement is expected to positively impact the tourism potential between the two countries and significantly contribute to both local and transit passenger traffic.
