It's no coincidence that Colombia is increasingly appearing in searches for travelers around the world. The country continues to position itself as a name in the global tourism conversation, and this means that its promotion, investment, and connectivity efforts are sparking interest abroad.
“We are seeing increased searches for our destinations, and bookings are also growing. This is undoubtedly an opportunity to translate this growth into a greater diversity of experiences through innovation, sustainability, and quality service, so that the boom is not temporary, but rather a responsibility commensurate with Colombia's potential,” explained Paula Cortés Calle, Executive President of ANATO.
An example of these positive figures is that between January and April 2025, 19,182,021 searches for Colombia as a destination were recorded, representing a 5.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024. January was the month with the highest number of searches, reaching nearly 5.4 million. April, meanwhile, closed with more than 4.5 million, representing a 4.3% increase compared to the same month in 2024.
It is worth noting that the countries of origin with the highest number of searches to Colombia continue to be the United States, which closed 2024 with 18.9 million, although for the first four months of 2025, 6 million were registered, representing a 1.1% drop compared to the same period in 2024, confirming the decrease in arrivals to Colombia from that country, possibly driven by the current migration situation.
However, Spain closed 2024 with 5.7 million searches, and for the first four months of 2025, it added 2.1 million, equivalent to a 10% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Meanwhile, Mexico registered 4 million searches last year, and in the first four months of 2025, it revealed 1.5 million, a 12.1% increase compared to January-April of last year.
Brazil also joins the list, closing with 3.8 million searches in 2024, while in the first four months of 2024 there were 1.4 million, equivalent to a 15.8% increase.
And finally, Canada, which had 3.6 million searches in 2024. And for the January-April period, it recorded 1.3 million, an increase of 10.3%.
Meanwhile, Peru, Chile, and the Netherlands were ranked as those that registered the greatest growth in searches during the first four months of 2025, with increases of 34.3%, 28.8%, and 21.8%, respectively.
“Searches are largely focused on cities like Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, Cali, and San Andrés, which represent 88% of the total, so it's important not to limit this landscape. We have a wealth of natural and cultural resources that extends throughout the country, so it's essential to showcase other destinations with high tourism potential that deserve to be discovered by foreigners,” the union leader concluded.
