LATAM Airlines Group will host the 82nd IATA Annual General Meeting in Rio de Janeiro in 2026

June 5, 2025 (New Delhi, India) – The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced that its 82nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held in June 2026 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with LATAM Airlines Group as the host airline.

This will be the first time since 1999 that the event has been held in South America, and once again in the city of Rio. The meeting will bring together airline executives, government authorities, multilateral organizations, and key representatives of the global airline industry to discuss the sector's main challenges and opportunities.

IATA's Director General, Willie Walsh, emphasized the event's importance, noting that the choice of Rio de Janeiro as the host city reflects the impact of aviation in the region. He also highlighted the key role Brazil has played in global events such as the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games, thanks to strengthened air connectivity in recent decades.

For his part, LATAM Airlines Group CEO Roberto Alvo celebrated the selection of the Brazilian city as the host city for the meeting and highlighted the opportunity to showcase the evolution and potential of air transportation in South America. The executive stated that Rio de Janeiro, with its hospitality and natural beauty, will offer a unique setting for a high-level meeting.

LATAM Airlines Group operates a network connecting 153 destinations in 27 countries and carried more than 82 million passengers in 2024, setting a record for the group. The company continues to advance its fleet modernization and implementation of environmental sustainability policies.

Brazil's selection as the host of the AGM also highlights its historic legacy in aviation. The country is the birthplace of pioneers such as Alberto Santos-Dumont, whose 1906 flight is considered a milestone in the history of global aviation, consolidating Latin America as a leading player in the development of air transport.
