This Monday, the "FIEXPO Latin America 2025" trade fair officially opened in Costa Rica. From June 9th to 12th, the event will bring together more than 300 international buyers and the region's most influential decision-makers. This event will become a unique platform to consolidate the country as the epicenter of business and professional meetings in Latin America.
Carolina Adano, director of FIEXPO Exhibitions Groups, the organizer of the trade fair, mentioned that the country's infrastructure, air connectivity, professionalism, reputation, security, and education were key factors in deciding to hold FIEXPO in Costa Rica for the first time.
“We have been working with Costa Rica for a long time, and with the support of the Minister of Tourism, William Rodríguez, we were able to secure the venue. For us, Costa Rica is a leading destination due to the way they have been investing in meeting tourism for many years,” added Adano.
Andrés Escandón, regional director of the International Congress and Convention Association of Latin America (ICCA), noted that this is the most important events and meetings fair, representing business opportunities and international destination marketing promotion for the sector. “There will be many impacts for the country from holding this event,” commented Escandón.
Productive Opening Day
On the first day of FIEXPO Latin America, attendees at the Real Intercontinental Hotel in Escazú participated in the “SustAInability Workshop,” a think tank that connected sustainability, artificial intelligence, and business events, led by facilitators from Colombia, Canada, the Netherlands, and Uruguay.
Ricardo Meléndez, general manager of the Hotel Real Intercontinental, one of the FIEXPO 2025 venues, considered this to be “a great opportunity to create links with partners and generate opportunities for the country.”
Later, the “ICCA Latin America & Caribbean Chapter Meeting” was held, followed by the “Convention Bureau Challenge,” a key meeting for industry leaders. The meeting focused on identifying and addressing the main challenges facing destination managers. Representatives from Destination Management Organizations (DMOs), Convention and Visitors Bureaus (CVBs), Ministries of Tourism, mayors’ offices, and tourism promotion offices attended the event.
Other events on this first day included the “Next Generation Summit,” aimed at empowering future leaders in the MICE (meetings and events tourism) segment. The event also featured the “SITE Iberoamérica Meet,” which concluded with the “Business Owners Conclave,” an activity designed for business owners in the MICE industry, where they discussed key strategies and decisions that will define the future of the sector.
Trend and Negotiation Spaces
The "12th Latin American Political Forum" on meeting tourism is scheduled for this Tuesday, June 10th, to foster debates that influence the future direction of events and address key topics, such as policymaking and strategic destination management.
On Wednesday, June 11th, at 11:00 a.m., the ribbon cutting and official opening of the one-on-one negotiation segment will take place at the FIEXPO Latin America 2025 fairgrounds. The Business Roundtable will be held on Thursday, June 12th, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; both events will take place at the Costa Rica Convention Center.
Holding FIEXPO in Costa Rica represents a valuable opportunity to position the country and generate new business in the MICE segment. Costa Rica will also host FIEXPO Latin America in the 2026 and 2027 editions.
