The event, which takes place from June 10 to 12, offers opportunities to share experiences, trends, and best practices to strengthen aviation safety in the region.

The opening ceremony was attended by:

Peter Cerdá, Executive Director and CEO of ALTA, and Regional Vice President for the Americas at IATA.

Major General Miguel Enrique Vallin Osuna, Director General of Mexico's Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC).

Christopher Barks, ICAO Regional Director for North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

The ALTA CEO emphasized that "our region has managed to reduce the accident rate by 72%, from 6.27 in 2005 to 1.77 in 2024, while tripling the volume of passengers transported during that period. This is remarkable progress, but we cannot let our guard down. Air safety is not a competition, but a shared responsibility that requires collaboration, investment, and constant vigilance."

The meeting's academic agenda includes discussion sessions on key topics relevant to current security. Among them:

Trends in pilot training and crew well-being.

Major challenges: turbulence, lithium batteries, avian migration, human factors, EVTOLs.

Artificial Intelligence in security management.

Regulatory harmonization for aeronautical training.

Mexico: Risks, growth, and preparation with the participation of Aeromexico, Viva Aerobus, and Volaris.

Collaboration in crisis management: Success story: Floods in Southern Brazil.

As part of the Summit, ALTA's Safety, Operations, and Training Committees, which include executives from more than 35 airlines, are meeting to continue addressing the region's main challenges and ensure, most importantly, that aviation in our region remains one of the safest in the world.
