Volaris Costa Rica, the national ultra-low-cost airline operating in Central and South America, Mexico, and the United States, inaugurated three new international routes today, connecting San José, Costa Rica, with Miami and Orlando, Florida, United States, as well as Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico. This diversifies its destination offering for the benefit of its customers, with one of the most modern fleets in the region.

The three new direct flights will begin early next month: to Orlando on July 1, to Tulum on July 2, and to Miami on July 4. Tickets to Miami and Tulum can be purchased from US$79 each way plus taxes, while tickets to Orlando from San José, Costa Rica, start from US$89 plus taxes per segment.

The new routes are part of Volaris' strategy to strengthen connectivity between Costa Rica, Mexico, and the United States, facilitating greater access with low fares to key destinations in the regions where it operates.

The flight from San José to Tulum represents a significant milestone, as Mexico has become a crucial destination for tourists to Costa Rica. Volaris Costa Rica will be the only airline with direct flights to Tulum, which will contribute to strengthening tourism in both destinations and promote a cultural and commercial exchange that will enrich the experience for tourists.

Miami and Orlando, Florida, are among the most popular destinations for Costa Ricans and Central Americans. Volaris Costa Rica will be the only ultra-low-cost airline operating directly from Costa Rica to Orlando and Miami, Florida. These routes will make it easier for tourists from Florida to reach Costa Rica with more affordable fares and will boost the exchange of goods, services, and investment in key sectors such as trade, technology, and real estate.

These three new routes, along with the five routes currently operated by Volaris Costa Rica (from San José to Mexico City, Guadalajara, Cancún, Guatemala City, and Los Angeles), significantly contribute to economic development, tourism on both routes, and the strengthening of bilateral and cultural ties between Costa Rica and Mexico.

“Costa Ricans and Central Americans have rewarded us with their preference for the ultra-low-cost model, and this motivates us to continue growing. Therefore, in our ninth year as the national flag carrier, we decided to express our gratitude for their trust with direct routes to Costa Ricans' favorite destinations: Miami and Orlando, Florida, as well as Mexico's newest tourist paradise, Tulum, Quintana Roo. We now have a total of eight routes, all with ultra-low fares, with which we continue to increase the frequency of trips for regular passengers and incorporate more new travelers each year who previously considered air travel inaccessible. In this way, we are transforming mobility habits in the region. We are grateful to the Civil Aviation Directorate, the Ministry of Tourism, and AERIS for their ongoing support in increasing our operations,” said Ronny Rodríguez, Director of Corporate Development and Sustainability at Volaris.

“The opening of these new routes by our national flag carrier comes at an opportune time to continue strengthening Costa Rica's international connectivity.” With direct connections from key markets such as Florida and the Mexican Caribbean, we expand opportunities to attract more visitors, boost local economies, and consolidate our country as a competitive and accessible destination in the region,” said William Rodríguez, Minister of Tourism.

“At AERIS, we celebrate the expansion of Volaris Costa Rica with these three new routes, which strengthen the country's air connectivity and confirm the role of Juan Santamaría International Airport as a key entry and exit point for the region.” This opening expands opportunities for tourism, business, and cultural exchange, and reflects the joint effort between authorities, airlines, and the airport operator to continue driving the country's development," said Ricardo Hernández, Executive Director of AERIS.

Additionally, as a result of the high demand and attractiveness of the route in its first months of operation, starting in July, Volaris Costa Rica is increasing the number of frequencies on its direct flight from San José, Costa Rica to Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, from two to four weekly frequencies.
