The Tierra del Fuego Tourism Institute emphasized that winter at the End of the World is characterized by its extended season until the end of September, which represents a distinctive aspect for Tierra del Fuego in the development of its winter season in Patagonia.

In this regard, Dante Querciali, president of INFUETUR, stated that "air connectivity is assured for the winter season, so we estimate the influx of tourism will be positive. Each year, we are above the national average, and we hope to count on an active arrival of tourists. We know that it won't be a season with record numbers due to the national context, and that we will have to continue redoubling our efforts throughout these months."

He explained that "for this season, we have between 8 and 12 daily flights, thanks to Aerolíneas Argentinas, which offers between 6 and 9 daily flights, plus JetSmart and Flybondi flights. We will have daily direct flights from Buenos Aires, two weekly flights from São Paulo to Ushuaia, two direct flights from Córdoba, and the interprovincial route with El Calafate."

"As we announced at the season launch and during business rounds held in April in the City of Buenos Aires, winter resorts and tourism service providers are ready to welcome visitors who choose the End of the World this winter. We look forward to providing them with quality services so they can enjoy the destination," Querciali added.

Activities for the whole family

The Tierra Mayor Valley is home to winter resorts (Tierra Mayor, Husky Park, Las Cotorras, Llanos del Castor, and Haruwen), offering activities such as snowmobiling and sledding, snowshoeing, night hikes, cross-country skiing, and sampling the flavors of Tierra del Fuego. This area also offers medium- and high-complexity treks with adventure tourism operators who provide safety and experience.

Another characteristic spot in Ushuaia is the Martial Glacier Nature Reserve, home to a wide range of accommodations and the Ushuaia Ski School, ideal for learning to ski and enjoying the local cuisine in its Mountain Refuge. Opposite the School is the Cerro Martial Parque Fin del Mundo mountain resort, which also offers alpine skiing and snowboarding lessons, a sledding and skiing slope, trekking activities, and a food service.

On the other hand, Cerro Castor, the largest ski resort in the province in terms of infrastructure and services, has important new features this season with the addition of the "Del Valle" quad chairlift, located at the foot of the Viejo Castor restaurant. It features state-of-the-art technology and a 1,400-meter travel distance. This chairlift will provide skiers with a unique experience with a 360-degree panoramic view of the valley, transforming its route into the most privileged vantage point in the ski resort.

“This new investment by Cerro Castor will increase our capacity to accommodate skiers at the destination. The ski resort is an important hub for visitor traffic during the winter season, as we have many teams that ski off-season and many winter tourists who return year after year due to their positive experience at the destination. The End of the World is well positioned with high-end Brazilian and domestic tourists, thanks to the quality of the mountain resort and the services offered in Tierra del Fuego, with a variety of activities for the whole family,” Querciali said.

Finally, the head of INFUETUR stated that “Tierra del Fuego is an ideal destination to explore during the upcoming winter holidays due to the variety of activities it offers for the whole family. We maintain the must-see attractions to enjoy year-round, such as boat trips, rides on the End of the World train, visits to the National Park, 4x4 excursions, overflights, visits to the lakes, kayaking, among other activities,” emphasizing that “Tierra del Fuego has a wide variety of authorized accommodations that offer comfort and safety to visitors, and gastronomic services that invite you to enjoy the flavors of Tierra del Fuego.”
