Nautical activities in Colombia, embark on a new adventure

Colombia is one of the few countries in the world that can offer experiences on two oceans. Visitors to both the Pacific and the Caribbean Seas can find activities to enjoy the beauty of the waters while sunbathing or practicing water sports

Until a few years ago, these tours were organized in a simple manner, with members of various tourist groups sharing boats and having to adhere to a predetermined route, destinations, and schedule.

However, a segment of visitors seeks high-value, private experiences where there is greater freedom of choice. Therefore, today, at some docks, it is possible to embark on an unforgettable adventure. For some, it is even an experience that goes beyond Colombia, as departing from our ports, it is possible to travel to other destinations, such as Panama.

Types of boats:

The main docks and marinas along the Colombian coast offer a wide range of options. From powerboats to mega yachts:

Powerboats. These speedboats can be rented from 29 feet, allowing groups of more than 12 people.

Pontoons. Commonly called "planchones" in Colombia, they're ideal for hosting a great water party. They don't develop great speed, but their stability and size are ideal for those who aren't in a hurry and want to enjoy the view of Colombia's bays and inlets.

Catamarans, two-hulled vessels, offer great stability and comfort due to their shape.
Sailboats, designed for those with extensive nautical experience. Here, the offering ranges from small boats (averaging 35 feet) to classic sailboats (pre-1960) or historic ones, such as schooners. Even galleons with a capacity of around 300 people.

Yachts. Here you can rent boats of various types, including mega yachts for large parties or events, measuring over 135 feet. The choice depends on the length of the trip and whether visitors want to take long cruises and sleep on board.

An experience for every taste:

Undoubtedly, the experiences will depend on the mood and expertise of the group, but here are some suggestions:

Boat and overnight stay. Many tour operators organize packages that can span several days. Thus, in addition to the type of boat, it's possible to include a beach house rental, or even a private island. Chefs, coffee-related activities, wine, or spirits are also part of the experiences available.

Fishing and diving. Colombia has instructors and experts who will accompany you if you want to try these activities. They have in-depth knowledge of the best places to do so, ensuring an unforgettable experience.
Short-term plans. Some simply want to visit a beach club, or simply anchor in a bay to watch the sunset, sunbathe, or listen to music. For these, there are various options, including shallower-draft boats.

Favorite destinations:

Cartagena is not only a magical city, increasingly chosen by high-value international tourists. It's also the starting point for those looking to charter deep-draft vessels, such as yachts, catamarans, or sailboats.

With destinations like Barú and the Rosario Islands just over half an hour away—and San Bernardo del Viento and Tintipán a little further away—it's an ideal destination for renting a yacht, or even a house to make the trip an even more lasting experience.

Another destination we recommend is Santa Marta, whose bays and beautiful beaches are well worth exploring. It also has a recently built marina. And, further north in the Department of La Guajira, we suggest Bahía Honda, Bahía Hondita, and Macuira. You won't regret it.

On Providencia Island, with its seven-color sea, marine activities are part of visitors' routines. And in the Pacific, the best spots are Bahía Málaga, Nuqui, Utria, Gorgona, and Bahía Solano.

Recommendations:

The waters of the Colombian Caribbean and Pacific offer a wide range of tourist attractions that combine culture, nature, and adventure. Dare to enjoy these unique experiences and soak up the beautiful landscapes of the Colombian coast!
