Dominican airline Arajet and international aeronautical company Boeing graduated two new Dominican pilots, who successfully completed the cadet training program developed in partnership by both companies and approved and supervised by the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC).

For a full year, Dominicans Carlos Martínez and José Mauriz trained to receive their certification as Boeing 737 Max pilots, after completing more than 1,000 total flight hours. This program included flight line training, aviation data training (provided by Jeppesen), competition-based simulators, and a Boeing 737 Max jet adaptation course, among other courses.

Due to the magnitude of the program's content and its cost, which exceeds US$100,000, this initiative is considered the largest of its kind in all of Latin America.

This initiative is part of Arajet and Boeing's commitment to developing national talent and consolidating a strong, modern, and sustainable aeronautical industry in the Dominican Republic.

The new pilots, who are now active members of the Arajet crew, represent the fruit of a training model that focuses on technical excellence, the inclusion of young Dominicans with a vocation for flight, and the promotion of high-impact careers for the country. Their graduation not only marks an individual achievement but also symbolizes the collective progress of an entire nation that looks to the sky with determination and hope.

Víctor Pacheco Méndez, CEO and founder of Arajet, said, “This is a moment of national pride. These young people are not only graduating as pilots, but are also rising as a symbol of the potential of Dominican youth. At Arajet, we believe that Dominican talent can conquer the skies of the world, and we are committed to opening all the necessary doors to make that happen.”

"This is the first class we've graduated from this program, which we've continued with another class currently underway and the evaluation of the candidates who will make up the third. We're delighted to be able to support the development of aeronautical capabilities in the Dominican Republic through this partnership with Boeing, which is part of our vision for the future," added  Garret Malone, the airline's chief operating officer.

This cadet program, developed with the technical and academic support of Boeing, is designed to offer world-class training, with high safety standards, advanced flight simulation, and intensive practice. Its goal is to enable more Dominicans to pursue careers as commercial pilots without having to emigrate or face insurmountable economic barriers.

With this graduation, Arajet reaffirms its mission to not only connect destinations, but also connect dreams. In the words of one of the new pilots, "Flying with Arajet isn't just fulfilling a personal dream; it's being part of the launch of a new era for Dominican aviation."
