Mexican Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora announced that, from January to May 2025, 9 million 359 thousand foreign tourists arrived in our country by air, depending on their place of residence.
He specified that, according to data from the Immigration Policy, Registry, and Identity Unit of the Ministry of the Interior, this figure represents an increase of 2.9 percent compared to the same period in 2024 and 13.7 percent compared to 2019.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism highlighted that the main countries of residence for foreign tourists arriving by air to Mexico during the first five months of the year were the United States, Canada, and Argentina, which together totaled 7.846 million tourists, representing a 6.1 percent increase compared to 2024.
He reported that between January and May 2025, the arrival of tourists residing in the United States amounted to 6 million 77 thousand, that is, 4.2 percent more than in 2024 and 31.3 percent more than in 2019.
He also highlighted that during the same period, 1,597,000 Canadian resident tourists arrived, representing an increase of 11.6 and 16.1 percent compared to 2024 and 2019, respectively.
He added that in the first five months of the year, 172,922 tourists from Argentina arrived, 30.2 percent more than in 2024.
Rodríguez Zamora emphasized that the increase in travelers arriving in our country continues to position it as a must-see destination globally, thanks to its extraordinary cultural, natural, and culinary grandeur. He reiterated his commitment to continue working to ensure that the benefits of tourism permeate all those involved in the "good news sector" and to consolidate tourism as a generator of well-being and Shared Prosperity.
