Between January and April of this year, the Dominican Republic welcomed a total of 163,823 Argentine tourists, representing a 98% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This accelerated growth reaffirms the strong tourism relationship between the two countries and the growing interest among Argentines in Dominican attractions.
During 2024, the Dominican Republic welcomed 272,450 Argentine visitors, 35% more than in 2023, confirming a historic year for connectivity and tourism exchange. Argentine tourists accounted for 37% of total South American arrivals and 5% of international arrivals to the Caribbean country.
“The ties between Argentina and the Dominican Republic continue to strengthen year after year. Argentina is a strategic and priority market for our tourism development, and these figures confirm this,” said Dominican Republic Minister of Tourism David Collado. “We want to continue offering Argentines unique, warm experiences tailored to their interests.”
Among the highlights of the first four months of the year:
93% of Argentine tourists entered the country through Punta Cana International Airport.
While 32% came directly from Argentina, other points of entry were Panama (29%) and Peru (19%), reflecting growing regional connectivity.
There were 333 direct flights on four routes, representing a 164% increase compared to 2024.
These routes were operated 61% by Aerolíneas Argentinas and 39% by Arajet.
The overall satisfaction of Argentine tourists was 4.5 out of 5, and 95% expressed their intention to return to the Dominican Republic.
The most popular destinations for Argentines continue to be Punta Cana, Samaná, Puerto Plata, Santo Domingo, and La Romana, and Miches was once again highlighted as one of the regions with the greatest potential for this year, driven by strategic investments and the arrival of international hotel chains.
During the June roadshow, the Ministry of Tourism highlighted the diverse experiences the Dominican Republic offers: from paradisiacal beaches, adventure tourism, and cultural offerings to Caribbean cuisine, wellness, golf, and sustainable tourism options.
Likewise, the robust air connectivity with Argentina was highlighted, with flights operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas, Arajet, Copa Airlines, Gol, and other companies, allowing seamless access from various Argentine provinces.
"We are delighted to continue strengthening this tourism bridge with Argentina. Our commitment is to continue offering quality, hospitality, and unforgettable experiences for every type of traveler," concluded David Collado.
With sustained growth, a strong connection to the Argentine market, and an increasingly sophisticated offering, the Dominican Republic continues to position itself as the leading destination in the Caribbean, promoting tourism as a driver of integration and development.
