New data from Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) indicates relevant trends:
Increase in tourism: There was a nearly 10% increase in the number of Visa cardholders from Latin America and the Caribbean visiting the United States during the tournament's opening week compared to the same period last year. Argentina led the way, followed by travelers from Brazil and Ecuador.
Visa Transaction Increase: Total transactions made with all Visa payment methods by consumers in Latin America and the Caribbean from June 14-21, 2025, increased by more than 20% in FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ host cities compared to the same week last year.
Growth in contactless payments: Contactless purchase transactions made by Visa cardholders in Latin America and the Caribbean grew by 80% compared to the same period last year.
Among visitors to the region, Visa cardholders from Brazil spent the most, followed by cardholders from Argentina and Panama. The largest increases in spending were recorded at fast-food restaurants (70%), sports entertainment (65%), and airlines (60%). Notably, the Boca Juniors vs. Benfica match on June 16 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, FL, registered the highest number of international transactions. Additionally, Seattle, New York, and Miami, in that order, registered the largest number of visitors to the region.

The first week of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ took place from 14 to 21 June 2025 at stadiums in several cities across the United States, including Atlanta, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York/New Jersey, Orlando, Philadelphia, Seattle and Washington, DC.

VCA's consulting team analyzed data on consumer transactions made through VisaNet between June 14-21, 2025, and June 15-22, 2024, excluding Visa Direct transactions. These growth percentages are based on U.S. transactions made by Latin American and Caribbean consumers in cities hosting the first week of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup™.
