Santiago, July 9, 2025.- SKY Airlines plans to transport more than 214,000 passengers this winter season, between the months of July, August, and September, between different cities in Brazil and Santiago on its direct routes. The main reason for this high flow is the growing interest in snow destinations in Chile, which have positioned themselves as one of the most attractive winter experiences in South America.
This movement is part of a boom in inbound tourism in Chile during 2024. According to data from Fedesud, tourist arrivals from key markets such as Brazil and Argentina broke records, consolidating the sector as a significant revenue driver for the country. In the first half of the year, revenue generated by tourists, day trippers, and international transportation reached US$1.683 billion, representing a 25.6% increase compared to the same period last year. Brazilian tourists alone reached a record 787,000 arrivals, an increase of 62%, with an average spending of US$851 per visitor.
"The snow season has become a true magnet for Brazilian tourism, and we are proud to be the bridge that connects thousands of people to the magic of the Chilean winter. These projections reflect the growing interest in Chilean tourism and the preference for flying with SKY thanks to our affordable fares, punctuality, and onboard experience," said Benjamin Cox, Assistant Sales Manager at SKY Airlines.
According to SKY Airline's projections for the 2025 winter season, passenger traffic between July and September will be led by the route between Sao Paulo and Santiago, with an estimated 71,979 passengers. This is followed by Rio de Janeiro, with 61,893 passengers; Florianópolis, with 54,269; Porto Alegre, with 13,441; and Belo Horizonte, with a projected 12,819 passengers.
It should be noted that the routes to Porto Alegre and Belo Horizonte are seasonal operations, specifically designed to strengthen connectivity during the winter. The Santiago-Porto Alegre connection began on June 23 and will run until September 14, 2025, starting with three weekly frequencies and increasing to four during July and August. For the second consecutive year, SKY will operate the Santiago-Belo Horizonte route from June 24 to September 13, with three weekly frequencies throughout its entire operation.
Chile is consolidating its position as one of the continent's most important winter destinations, with world-class ski resorts such as Valle Nevado, La Parva, El Colorado, and Portillo, which attract not only skiers but also travelers seeking snowy landscapes, mountain cuisine, and family activities.
SKY Airlines will continue to strengthen its regional network, focusing on connectivity between Brazil and Chile, and reaffirms its commitment to promoting tourism, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy and the diversification of the national tourism industry.
